Maxime Sermesant invited speaker at the French National Academy of Medicine
Last week, Maxime Sermesant, 3IA Chairholder, gave an invited talk at the French National Academy of Medicine (working group AI & Health) on artificial intelligence and digital twins, with Frédéric Sacher (cardiologist, Bordeaux University Hospital).
Title: Artificial Intelligence and Digital Twin to guide cardiac arrhythmia ablation from medical imaging
Abstract:
Catheter ablation has finally made it possible to offer therapy for many cardiac arrhythmias, some of which are life-threatening, but identifying the areas to be treated remains a challenging issue. Advances in medical imaging allow for increasingly better characterization of cardiac tissue, but the link with cardiac rhythm disorders is complex.
The collaboration between Bordeaux University Hospital and Inria, particularly through the IHU Liryc, has enabled the development of image analysis tools that facilitate this connection, as well as direct integration of imaging during the ablation procedure. The European project inEurHeart, coordinated by Inria, recently demonstrated the impact of this approach through a clinical study. The analysis of imaging data is based on artificial intelligence and digital twin technologies, which will be presented in this talk, following an introduction to the clinical context and the study.
