Serena Villata awarded ERC Consolidator Grant 2025
We are very proud to announce that the 3IA Scientific Director and Chairholder earned the “Consolidator” grant, which supports numerous projects by mid-career scientists each year.
This year, the European Research Council (ERC) has chosen 349 mid-career scientists to receive Consolidator Grants. These grants, funded through the EU's Horizon Europe program, will back innovative research at universities and research institutions across 25 EU Member States and associated countries.
Serena Villata, 3IA Scientific Director and Chairholder, was awarded this prestigious grant for her PANDORA project.
Supporting the best in exploratory research across all fields, these grants reward European project leaders who obtained their doctorate 7 to 12 years previously. The "Consolidator" grants (up to 2 million euros) sit between the "Starting" grants (up to 1.5 million euros and 2 to 7 years after the doctorate) and "Advanced" grants (up to 2.5 million euros and targeting established researchers). They are awarded once a year for a duration of 5 years to scientists from all countries worldwide, but who must carry out their research work in a European or associated country.
