Quentin Bletery awarded a second ERC Proof of Concept grant

Quentin Bletery, AI Cluster 3IA Côte d'Azur Chairholder and Research Director (IRD) at Géoazur, has been awarded an ERC Proof of Concept grant for the second time in two years, for his project LIVE-TSUNAMI.

The new grant will support the live-testing of a tsunami warning system based on gravity signals that travel at the speed of light in Alaska, a promising approach to estimate the magnitude of the largest earthquakes and forecasting tsunamis faster than ever before. It builds on Quentin Bletery's earlier work: the ERC Starting Grant EARLI (2020), in the framework of which the AI algorithm was designed, and the ERC Proof of Concept AI-warning (2025), which integrated the algorithm into Peru's tsunami early-warning system.

This second ERC Proof of Concept grant in as many years is a rare achievement, reflecting the impact of Quentin Bletery's research at the interface of artificial intelligence and geophysics.

Congratulations, Quentin Bletery!
