Maurizio Filippone (Eurecom)
Short bio
Maurizio Filippone is an Assistant Professor in the Data Science Department of Eurecom, where he teaches Advanced Techniques of Statistical Inference. His research interests are: development of practical and evolutionary Bayesian inference methods for process-based Gaussian statistical models, statistical methods for early diagnosis of neurological disorders based on neuroimaging data and bayesian inference in mechanistic models applied to systems biology.
Research topic | Probabilistic machine learning
Probabilistic machine learning offers a principled framework for quantification of uncertainty across various sciences. The Chair will tackle three major modeling and computational issues: (i) the need to develop practical and scalable tools for accurate quantification of uncertainty, (ii) the lack of interpretability, and (iii) the unsustainable trend in energy consumption.
