Short bio
Vincent Vandewalle is Professor at Université Côte d'Azur. He is part of the MAASAI (Models and Algorithms for Artificial Intelligence) team and is also affiliated with the J.A. Dieudonné lab. His research interest is statistical learning and in particular classification (unsupervised, semi-supervised, supervised) based on generative models. He has proposed several models for clustering various types of data and is also interested in the fundamental study of model-based clustering.
Research topic | Finding structures in heterogeneous data
We study heterogeneous data both in their kind and in their distribution. Our ambition is to discover structures in the data that will help the user in understanding it and taking decisions. We focus on designing generative models able to reveal several clustering viewpoints and we will adapt them to the deep-learning setting. We collaborate with doctors and retailers.
