The 3IA Côte d’Azur is hiring three Teachers & Researchers in AI.
• Open to: External applicants (contract position)
• Contract duration: 2-year fixed-term contract
• Category: A – Gross salary up to €3,200/month depending on experience
• Job location: Teaching and training duties on the different campuses of Université Côte d’Azur; research activities within the 3IA Côte d’Azur Institute
• Affiliation: 3IA Côte d’Azur
The position includes 128 teaching hours (tutorial-equivalent) and research activities within one of the Institute’s affiliated laboratories.
The applicant will be expected to teach advanced courses in Artificial Intelligence—particularly in machine learning, statistical learning, natural language processing (NLP), symbolic AI, computer vision, and related areas—targeted at master's or engineering students, but also professional and expert-level audiences.
Research activities will be carried out in one of the research laboratories affiliated with the 3IA Côte d’Azur consortium, notably the I3S or LJAD laboratories (Université Côte d’Azur, CNRS), or the UniCA Inria Center. The applicant’s research project should demonstrate a clear link with the host team’s research themes and contribute new perspectives to its fundamental or applied research areas.
• A Ph.D. in a discipline related to Artificial Intelligence (applied mathematics, computer science, etc.), or a thesis defense scheduled for 2025.
• Research contributions in deep learning, statistical learning, natural language processing (NLP), symbolic AI, computer vision, and their application domains.
• Publications in leading international journals (PAMI, JMLR, AIJ, etc.) or conferences on AI and its main areas of progress (NeuRIPS, IJCAI, ECAI, ICML, AISTATS, AAAI, ACL, KR, CVPR, etc.).
• Ability to teach courses in at least one discipline of Artificial Intelligence.
• Proficiency in French is desirable but not mandatory.
Teaching experience in Artificial Intelligence is also desirable.
• Trial period: 6 months
• Teaching load: 128 hours (tutorial-equivalent)
• No additional teaching hours (64 hours of teaching relief for this specific assignment)
• Research assignment (804 effective hours per year)
Note: The teaching load (128 tutorial-equivalent hours per year) is lower than the standard teaching requirement in French universities.

Description of the host entity/department
Université Côte d’Azur (UniCA) coordinates the consortium that forms the 3IA Côte d’Azur Institute, one of four Interdisciplinary Institutes for Artificial Intelligence established in France in 2019 and awarded an "AI Clusters" grant in 2024. The mission of the 3IA Côte d’Azur Institute is to foster cutting-edge research in Artificial Intelligence and to provide high-quality AI-focused academic courses for master’s and engineering programs and continuing education in AI. The 3IA Côte d'Azur Institute aims for research excellence in the fundamental fields of AI, and in particular NLP, statistical learning, machine learning, generative AI, and their major fields of application.Roles and responsibilities
The applicant will join the team of the 3IA Côte d’Azur Institute and contribute to the development of the Institute’s academic programs, mainly aimed at master's students, but also for bachelor's degrees, on-the-job training and MOOCs.
