Welcome to the AI Cluster 3IA Côte d'Azur Hugo Laborde
Hugo Laborde, Data Scientist, joined Université Côte d'Azyr in June to contribute to innovative projects at the intersection of computer vision, deep learning, and scientific computing for the AI Cluster 3IA Côte d'Azur.
We asked Hugo to introduce himself:
I am Hugo Laborde, an AI and Data Science Engineer, and I am proud to be part of the fast-evolving world of artificial intelligence and computer vision!
I have a solid academic and practical background in deep learning, with a particular focus on image-like data processing and neural network architectures.
After successfully completing my Engineering Degree at ESILV with a major in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, I first gained valuable hands-on experience during a research internship at Université Laval in Canada. There, I developed and optimized convolutional architectures — including U-Net models — to enhance finite element simulations, and used autoencoders for feature extraction and dimensionality reduction.
Then, I broadened my skills in applied AI and data engineering during an internship at Mycophyto in France. I designed structured databases, built machine learning models to predict crop performance from biological data, and implemented a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system to support the R&D team's knowledge exploration.
I am very excited to contribute to innovative projects at the intersection of computer vision, deep learning, and scientific computing, and to keep growing both personally and professionally alongside talented researchers and engineers.
