The Concept

The 3IA Côte d'Azur organizes "AI Study Groups with Industry", based on the model of the popular "European Study Groups with Industry" (ESGI). These study groups are internationally recognized as problem-solving forums for knowledge transfer.

  • An ESGI called "3IA Research Week for Companies" and dedicated to AI will take place in Sophia Antipolis (Inria, Kahn building) during the week Feb. 5 – Feb. 9, 2024.

It will gather Ph.D. students and post-doc researchers from the four 3IA Institutes (Paris, Toulouse, Grenoble and Nice) and industrial partners from the Sophia Antipolis area, focusing on AI technology.

During one week, young researchers (Ph.D. students, post-doc researchers) in AI work in small groups on problems coming from industrial partners. By the end of the week, the first step towards a solution is generally identified, opening the doors to future further developments.

  • The week is organized as follows:
    • On Monday morning, all topics of study will be presented by the industrial partners.
    • Then, each group of students (made up of 4 to 5 students) gets some more precise information on their topic and the work starts.
    • During the week, groups are autonomous, but industrial partners and a team of academics remain available to help whenever needed.
    • On Friday morning, all groups present their result.

All along the week, computational facilities will be available, as well as free on-site lunches and coffee breaks.

  • To participate :
    • Please register as soon as possible.
    • The organization team will announce the selected candidates and the constitution of the groups/topics.
    • These weeks of study in groups with industry are usually a very nice experience for Ph.D. students and post-doc researchers, so do not hesitate to apply.

The topics

Each industrial participant proposes a study topic for a group of four to five young researchers. This topic must be non-academic and for which innovative solutions are expected. The organizers of the event are available to discuss the topics upstream in order to best adjust them to the objectives, in order to ensure reasonable perspectives to the work that will be carried out and effective supervision during the week. From a logistical point of view, the presence of a representative of the industrial partner is necessary the first half day (Monday morning) in order to be able to introduce himself, introduce the subject and meet the group that will work on it. The presence is also necessary another half day, on the last day of the week (Friday morning) to attend the restitution of the work and make a review. It is also desirable that a person remain reachable during the week in case a discussion about the subject is necessary.

The list of topics will be soon available.
