Marylou Le Roy, junior fellow in AI & law, joined the University Côte d’Azur in October in EFELIA-3IA Côte d’Azur.
We asked Marylou to introduce herself:
“Dear all,
I am Marylou Le Roy and I am passionate about digital law. Qualified as a senior lecturer, I defended my doctoral thesis entitled ‘The fairness of platforms to consumers’ in December 2021 under the direction of Professors Célia Zolynski and Natacha Sauphanor-Brouillaud. This work won the Chair Prize in Consumer Law and was published by Dalloz Editions within the collection Nouvelle bibliothèque de Thèses in April 2023.
I was previously a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne to work on the societal impacts of artificial intelligence and formerly the legal and institutional affairs officer at the French Digital Council, an independent public commission which advises the government on digital issues. I had the honor to be selected for a US government’s international visitors program entitled ‘Strengthening Cooperation on AI Policy, Regulation, and Research’ during the years 2021-2022.
I have taught several seminars in digital law at the master’s level and was a lecturer in civil law and an introductory law course instructor at Sorbonne Abu Dhabi University. I also contributed to a MOOC on Artificial Intelligence and Society for Una Europa Program.
I am so glad to put theses professional experiences at the service of the EFELIA-3IA Côte d’Azur teams and students and to pursue my research and my courses on a critical view of artificial intelligence systems.
